The Healthy Life Trajectories Initiative (HeLTI) is an international consortium formed as a ten-year collaboration funded jointly by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Department of Biotechnology (India), Medical Research Council (South Africa) and the National Natural Science Foundation (China), and in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) to address the increasing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) around the world. There are four separate but harmonized projects in Soweto (South Africa), Mysore (India), Shanghai (China), and 2 provinces in Canada (Alberta and Ontario). All projects are focused on developing evidence-based interventions that span from preconception across pregnancy and into the postnatal period with the goal of improving maternal, infant and child health.
