Vincent Ferretti, Ph.D.Research Center of the Sainte-Justine University Hospital, Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Dr. Vincent Ferretti is Associate Director, Bioinformatics Software Development and Principal investigator at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR). He is Co-Principal Investigator of the Maelstrom Research program. His expertise is in bioinformatics with a strong experience in both large-scale software development and computational genomics.
Since 2006, Dr. Ferretti contributed to several international research projects in genomic epidemiology. He currently leads a software development program, called OBiBa (www.obiba.org), which aims to provide the international biobanking community with a free and high-quality open source biobank information management system. OBiBa software are used by several biobanks worldwide and are now mostly developed by the Maelstrom software developer team. Dr. Ferretti is also heading the software infrastructure development of the International Cancer Genome Consortium (www.icgc.org) Data Coordinating Center responsible for building consortium‘s databases and public data web portal. Finally, Dr. Ferretti is conducting an independent research program whose objective is to develop an innovative genome-wide bioinformatics platform to identify new viruses as causative agents in human cancer (BMC Bioinformatics 2012, 13:206)
