The overall aim of the MINDMAP project (2016 – 2019) is to identify the opportunities offered by the urban environment for the promotion of mental wellbeing and cognitive function of older individuals in Europe.

Harmonization Study Design

The harmonization project is comprised of eight longitudinal studies on ageing from six European countries, Canada, and Russia. Data harmonization was achieved by 9 research teams with specific expertise on: mental health outcomes; health outcomes not related to mental health; perceptions of the urban environment; physical environment (i.e. geospatial); social environment (i.e. geospatial); social factors and relationships; sociodemographic characteristics; lifestyle and behaviours; and biomarkers.

MINDMAP Harmonization Project population

Participants were recruited by the 8 cohorts participating in the harmonization project. The global project includes about 224,000 participants aged 19 and up from Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, and Russia.
