The purpose of the Canadian Study of Diet, Lifestyle, and Health was to investigate the relationship between diet, lifestyle factors, molecular markers, and cancer incidence in Canada.

After the baseline investigation, participants were followed-up by record linkage to Canadian national and provincial registries to assess cancer incidence and death. Follow-up was continued through 31 December 2010 for participants who were resident in Ontario and through 31 December 2005 for participants residing in all other provinces.
