Partipants were recruited between 2008 and 2010. They were then followed-up in 2012, 2015 and 2017 for the first phase (Seniors-ENRICA-1). The second phase (Seniors-ENRICA-2) participants were recruited between 2015 and 2017, and were then followed-up in 2019 and between 2022 and 2023.

- Inclusion criteria: ENRICA-2: * Participants must be aged 65 to 94 years and living in the city of Madrid (Spain) or in four surrounding large towns (Getafe, Torrejón de Ardoz, Alcorcón, and Alcalá de Henares).

Participants were selected by stratified cluster sampling of the non-institutionalized adult population of Spain. The sample was first stratified by province and municipality size. Clusters were then randomly selected in two stages: municipalities and census sections. Finally, households within each section were selected by random telephone dialing. Individuals within households were selected proportionally to the age and sex distribution of the Spanish population.
