Epidemiology for Health

The primary objective of the EpiHealth cohort study is to provide an open-access resource to study interactions between genotypes and life-style factors in a large cohort (300 000 individuals) derived from the Swedish population in the ages 45 to 75 years regarding the future development of common degenerative disorders, such as myocardial infarction, stroke, heart failure, fractures/osteoporosis, dementia, obstructive lung disease, osteoarthritis/pain, obesity/type 2 diabetes, and cancer. Moreover, secondary objectives of EpiHealth are:
  • To study prevalence’s of common degenerative disorders in the Swedish population in the ages 45-75 years;
  • To study life-style patterns in the ages 45-75 years and differences between genders;
  • To study heritability of common degenerative disorders in the Swedish population by using data from families attending both EpiHealth and LifeGene studies;
  • To evaluate novel biomarkers in serum and plasma for future common degenerative disorders;
  • To study the relationships between genotypes and future development of common degenerative disorders;
  • To study the relationships between life-style factors and future development of common degenerative disorders.

Supplementary Information
