Malmö Diet and Cancer Study
The primary goal of the study is to investigate the link between western diet and subsequent cancer risk.
A second goal is to map cardiovascular risk factors and early atherosclerosis in a sub-study.

A total of 74137 individuals were eligible for the study, 30446 participated.

Subjects living in Malmo city and born between 1926-1945 were included. This cohort was redefined every third month. The study was extended in 1995 to include men born between 1923 and 1945 and women born between 1923-1950.

The population comprises individuals between 44 and 74 years old living in Malmö, Sweden, from 1991 to1996.

- Participants were excluded if they have mental retardation.
- Other Criteria
- Participants were included if they have Swedish personal identity number. And excluded if they have any language problems that prevented the respondent from answering the questionnaire.

Individuals were recruited by invitation letter and public advertising during the period 1991-1996. Further, posters and pamphlets, were placed in public places and media was also approached for the recruitment.
