Notre Dame Study of Health & Well-being
The broad, long-term objective of this research is to build a multivariate theory of adult resilience that integrates developmental and psychosocial perspectives. The goal is to advance understanding of the multiple pathways that lead to successful development during the young (18-40 years of age), middle (40-60 years of age) and later years of adulthood (60-75 years of age).

-
In each wave, participants filled out a 50-page questionnaire (older adults = 8 waves, mid-life cohort = 7 waves and young adults = 2 waves).
In wave one, three, five and seven participants also filled out a daily diary for 56 days (until wave 1 for the young adults).
In waves two and four, Bergeman and her colleagues interviewed a subsample of the participants (not in the young adults cohort).
Salivary cortisol was also measured (older adults = wave 7 or 9, mid-life cohort = wave 5 or 7, young adults = wave 1 or 3).
In-person medical exam was performed in the older adults cohort between wave 5 and 6.
