The Passive Surveillance Stroke Severity Score Study
The External Validation of the Passive Surveillance Stroke Severity (PaSSV) Score is an sdministrative data based cohort of patients hospitalized for stroke, where entry to hospital was through ED.
The objectives of the External Validation of the Passive Surveillance Stroke Severity (PaSSV) Score study are:
* To assess the feasibility of deriving the PaSSV score using administrative data from British Columbia, Alberta, and Nova Scotia.
* To assess the association between the PaSSV score and 30-day all-cause mortality in British Columbia, Alberta, and Nova Scotia (geographic external validity), as well as in Ontario (temporal external validity).
* To compare the predictive values of models with and without PaSSV score for 30-day mortality and secondary outcomes (all-cause mortality and admission to nursing home within one year).
* To evaluate whether adding the PaSSV score changes hospital ranking in Ontario for 30-day mortality.
