Shanghai Birth Cohort Study
The objective of the SBC is to study the effects of genetic, environmental and behavioral factors on reproductive health, pregnancy outcomes, child growth development and risks of diseases.

Women are followed-up to 15 months before pregnancy with bimonthly telephone interviews. During pregnancy at each trimester, a follow-up visit is scheduled. The children are followed at 42 days postpartum, and 6, 12 and 24 months.
